Presidents Podium Bummer, Spring is here. I’ll miss the gloomy, dark, cold, wet, icy Winter days but hey, life goes on. I guess we’ll have to just roll with the punches and ride more! Daylight savings just readjusted our clocks and the days are stretching out with more light. Time to pour another quart or two of oil into my beater (Henry) Ford , load up the KTM and hit some trail. Good ol’ Henry just won’t quit, he thrives on neglect (though someday I should get that fourth cylinder going). Yep, something to be said about a very used, paid for, rusty carriage with peeling paint. I can leave it unlocked wherever I go! As I gaze into my crystal ball I see a good fortune for the Club. I see a big Poker Run in May, I see Club Rides to the Dunes, Willamina, EFR (China Hat), Tillamook, Starker, Shotgun, Huckleberry and beyond! There are work parties coming up too. Let’s make a great impression on the BLM and Forest Service this year. Dogpile! Oh, and let’s not forget our brethren out there. ULTRA, Applegate Rough Riders and Gran Prix are putting on events that we could help out on. Let’s put some ETRA karma in the kettle! Meeting turnout has been great so far this year. Our strength as a Club is growing and the credit goes to You, the participants, and there’s plenty to participate in soon, so get your boots on. Riding season is here, let’s get some awesome rides in and help each other out at the same time! You CAN make a difference! Bike Report: Besides some annoying starting kinks, I’m liking the new EXC very much. Another engineering marvel from the Austrians. KTM has done a great job of getting a real dirt bike to pass EPA standards that have previously thwarted other manufacturers. The riding potential of the dual sport is big. I believe the DS bikes will become much more popular as our trail systems dwindle. The other manufacturers will be producing competitive DS bikes as soon as they can, I’m sure. Your servant, Jared E-Mail me! Trail work at Starker, note the raingear, Oh Yeah!
Atta girl Jen!
